Welcome to Barry Hews Automotive Services, a family run garage and Bosch Car Service Centre in Pottington, Barnstaple. We carry out MOTs, servicing, and repairs on all makes and models of cars and light commercial vehicles. We also work to main dealer specialist level for Mercedes, BMW, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG), this means that we are able to offer main dealer services, without main dealer prices.

Across all of our services, we work with customers on an individual basis. We will never carry out work without your permission, or do any work that is surplus to requirements. For repair work, we can provide both genuine (OEM) parts, as well as aftermarket parts, to suit your budget and requirements.

Tyres, Diagnostics, Tracking, and Wheel Alignment

Here at Barry Hews, we provide our customers with much more than MOTs, servicing, and repairs – we also offer diagnostics, wheel alignment, vehicle remapping, tyres, and seasonal checks. Furthermore, we are able to arrange quotes for body work and windscreen repairs to be carried out by external companies.

To make sure that you stay on the road, we have 3 courtesy cars available. Other courtesy services include free quotations, MOT and service reminders, a car wash with your service, and pick up / drop off within a 10-mile radius.

If you’re looking for dedicated and reliable vehicle technicians to carry out work on your vehicle, then you’ve come to the right place. As a Bosch Car Service Centre, we have several competent Bosch technicians and all of our staff are up to date with professional qualifications. Our team undergo continuous training and development to ensure that they are able to provide the very best services for old and new vehicles. Furthermore, we are proud to train apprentices to become competent, fully qualified mechanics.

Technical Team

Barry – 20+ years’ experience. Barry runs the workshop & keeps his hand involved as much as possible.

Stewart – joined us in 2004. Completed his Bosch training in 2009 and takes a refresher exam every 3 years.

Ken - joined us November 2016 and is our full time MOT tester.

Shaun - joined us in February 2017 with 20 years + experience as a vehicle technician.

Alex – completed his Apprenticeship with us in August 2017 & is staying as part of the team.

Matt - Came back to us in April 2018 after a small break.
