Rented a car from here, pickup was relatively smooth despite the counter staff looking overwhelmed by the queue. However, the return process was a tragedy. As it was after hours, the keys were supposed to be dropped off into a box, but the flap was jammed. Tried calling and emailing the helpline but there was no reply. Tried calling roadside assistance too (desperate attempt) and unsurprisingly the lady was unable to help, nor was she able to contact anyone else. As there was a homeless sleeping within the premise, we took the keys with us as we were staying in London for another night. One of the staff called the next morning and angrily accused us of not returning the keys and did not want to hear our side of the story at all. He insisted on us making the trip back to the hire location at our own cost to return the keys. Had no choice but to do so as we were too tired to argue. To our surprise, we got charged a late return fee! And the final invoice was further increased from the original agreement. Emailed again to query this but no reply 10 days later. Totally disappointing experience for our first time renting with Budget/Avis.

Worst car rental experience ever! A car rental company can by no means be trusted. So it was the Jubilee weekend. I had rented a car (around £400 for the whole trip) for pickup at 3 PM. I called the branch line beforehand, telling them I will be 1 to 2 hours late because as stated from their website, it's ok to be late if I call them and make arrangements. The branch phone number brought me to the customer service line instead. I was told from the staff that the branch will be closed at 1900 and I can pick up the car as long as I reach there before the closing time. I arrived at around 5 PM, but the branch was already closed. I called them again but I was put on hold by the auto line connection system until more than AN HOUR later. It was the moment I realized it was impossible for me to pick up the car right from the beginning as they told me the branch was closed at 2 PM. (Please note that there was nothing mentioned on their website and no notifications were sent to my email regarding the unusual opening hours.) So I was offered by the staff on the line to either get a car from heathrow for an additional fee (around £200), or pick up the car the day after without an additional fee. I chose the latter. So I was forced to spend a night in London, messing up my itinerary. Here comes another ridiculous part. I arrived the branch the next day in the morning and told the staff what happened. They said the car was gone and I had to pay approximately £2000 to get a similar car. I was furious and rejected. The staff said she could try to "trick the system" to bring the price down. So I waited at the branch for another hour. I was offered to pay an extra £190 to get a car, which was not the one I rented at the first place. I had no other choice but taking it. In summary, I was physically, mentally, financially and temporally damaged by this event. They refused to compensate me by any means. The staff on the customer service would provide you with wrong information and make empty promises. Don't be deceived by their cheap prices. Oh btw, afaik, Budget and Avis are basically the same company. They even share the same staff and store there.

I don't understand the point of Quickpass. It didn't feel any faster compared to usual check-in. I was hoping to collect the car keys and get on with my day. The most frustrating is I got a car with about 3/4 fuel filled (third rental at this location this happened). Now I need to figure out how to fill it to exact amount before drop in.
