Welcome to Fulwood Academy

I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am to lead our school and be part of this community.

This is a school with brilliant students, dedicated and talented staff and facilities that are the envy of many other schools.

It is also a school that is going places. Our results are strengthening year-on-year, Ofsted has praised the progress we are making, and our students get opportunities that inspire them and shape their ambitions.

So please do take the time to watch our virtual videos below. They really do give a flavour of what life at our school is like - and we are very excited by the trajectory that we are on.

Starting Year 7 in 2014 i was firstly presented with a quite average highschool, nothing too bad, nothing too good. Only when you spend an extended amount of time do you truly see what Fulwood Academy is like. During my secondary school journey at Fulwood Academy i experienced a great amount of issues with this institution, anything from theft and vandalism to hate crimes committed by the students, one instance as such being the time when a student called a fellow classmate a racial slur and proceeding to hit his classmate, all in front of a teacher, the same student would then commit more racist and hateful acts in the future, all with no consequences, while a student that would get into two altercations would get suspended or expelled on the spot, some teachers were amazing ,friendly and kind people, while others were old fashioned, discriminatory and downright horrible human beings that didn't value students' mental wellbeing. The amount of bullying at this institution was immense, the teachers would show no remorse, or compassion, and their only response would be an anti bullying assembly, the quality of learning at this institution was deplorable, the technology at hand was quite advanced but it was never in use or simply broken, the screens we learned from always had problems, the science department had the same broken fume hood cabinet and holes in the walls patched by a piece of wood "borrowed" from the woodworking classroom. The learning environment was chaotic and unsafe, from flares thrown down the corridors to false fire alarms being triggered by students. Behaviours which would often bring more and more restrictions put in place for every student, no matter how innocent or guilty. Fulwood Academy is full of intimidating and poorly trained teachers, which love to instigate fear in students, they often want to enforce values into students when they don't posses such values themselves. My experience at Fulwood Academy was deplorable, the amount of hate crime, fear and uneasy feeling you get inside the classroom is overwhelming. Quite a shame, given that it had so much potential.
