Just twenty miles away from Birmingham is the West Midlands' second-largest city, Coventry. Historically seen as part of Warwickshire, Coventry is a city with plenty of local attractions to keep you entertained for a short break. Cancelled our reservation a few days before moving house. Then have taken £65 out of my account despite not giving us a van to hire. Evasive and have failed to return my money to me a month later

Car didn't turn up on the date required. No one answers the phones to discuss why with me. Had to travel to Birmingham to go pick up a car on the day and struggling to sort out refund for taxi fare. No apology or reasons for why the car never turned up and affected my work. All in all a shambles of a place and recommend to avoid this place at all costs.

Awful experience. I was left waiting for over 45 mins to pick up the keys for a van rental. First, there were no members of staff in either the reception area or the staff room (which was left open). Secondly, when a member of staff finally did show up, I was told to wait. After nearly 25 minutes, I went to try and find another member of staff (as they had disappeared), when I eventually found the original staff member who said they had "forgotten" I was there. I then had to wait for the van to be cleaned and taken to a station to be filled with fuel (bear in mind, this was now over an hour since I had arrived at the location, at 15:50 for a 16:00 pick-up). All in all, this was an absolutely awful experience (including issues with pricing and drop-off at the other location). Would definitely not recommend this location in Coventry, or Hertz as a company. Will be using Europcar or Enterprise next time!

So I went to hertz to rent a van after shopping online at all the major providers and the local companies too. The process online was very simple and gave me a total to pay of £66.46 for a 2day rental. Fantastic I thought, I paid and checked all the terms for charges. Turn up in the morning to collect my rental and I'm met with an explanation of holding deposits and charges that were not mentioned online at any point during the quote or in the FULL TERMS that I also read. They found a way of bringing the holding deposit down but still had to pay. I was backed into a corner and had no option. The advisor and branch manager say the company knows this is an issue, but clearly not important enough to correct. Very bad experience. Won't be using them again.
