Oliver Rutman Garden Design

Oliver stated his career at the world famous gardens Great Dixter in Sussex. He then progressed to study Garden Design at Royal Botanical Gardens Kew. Both these great gardens have given Oliver an exceptional plant knowledge that he exercises in every project. He firmly believes that it is the plants that make gardens look so spectacular. All Oliver's gardens also strike a perfect balance between hard and soft landscaping so they can be functional and beautiful at the same time. Gardens take time too mature so we feel it is important our guidance does not stop when the build is completed. Included in our fees are visits throughout the first year of the gardens development so we can check on progress and advise where necessary. Planting a garden is a long term project. So we remain on hand even after the garden is completed to offer advice and guidance as the garden grows. In particular during the first year we will make a number of return visits to check on the gardens development. Oliver has designed and created a beautiful garden that the whole family loves! He was very thoughtful about the brief and has always listened very carefully to our specific needs.The garden and light well he created are very imaginative and every part of the project has been well executed.

Oliver designed our front and back gardens. We thoroughly recommend him - he has innovative ideas; he listened to our plant preferences and wove those into a design that responds to both garden aspects and provides colour throughout the year.He worked well with our builder and everything happened on time.He provided an excellent schedule for ongoing maintenance so we can look after the garden ourselves. It was a successful partnership in every respect -the design and planting process was a delight and it was a pleasure to work with Oliver. The gardens are beautiful and attract lots of compliments.
