Used them a few times and every time I couldn't fault the service. Prices are decent but just sure you top up the tank fully before taking it back. All the vans I have hired have all been relatively new with no running issues.

My first experience of buying a motorcycle after my CBT. Incredible customer service, as soon as my foot stepped through their door until after the bike was delivered. Had a small technical problem with the bike after delivery but was sorted very quickly. Cannot recommend Portman Motors enough!

I bought my Royal Alloy GT 125 in May, it had a slight hole in the seat, called up and got changed under warranty no fuss. Had its 1st service on the 7th July and scooter going well, wee issue with fuel sender, again no fuss ordered under warranty, Brian - Service Manager was excellent as was Irene who dealt with my sale. No issues with using Portman's, despite what I had read.

The day of the hire went smoothly; van was clean and a recent model, and the price was very reasonable. However, it took the company three days to refund the balance of my deposit (I had returned the vehicle without filling the tank). When the company phoned in response to my call chasing up the refund, the person processing the repayment did not advise me of the amount until he had completed the transaction. The amount refunded was over £2 less than the amount agreed when I returned the van. When I asked for the correct amount to be paid to me, the agent commented that I was "making everyone's day difficult." He very reluctantly processed the balance of the the refund and made snide comments implying that I was being unreasonable by asking for the amount I was due. I am certain that he would not approve a hire if a customer advised that s/he was £2 short of the hire price. But for the poor experience in relation to the refund, I would have given the company full marks. Some training in customer service should be prioritised as a matter of urgency.

I had looked at a bike online and found Portman Motors sold that bike so I went for a look. Irene McKenzie was verey helpful and showed me the bike and a variety of others. I will look into this further and look at doing a CBT first but I was impressed. Thanks for your help and info on CBT's.
