A familiar and popular name in the area, Prestons has firmly established itself, and is celebrating 100 years of trading, an accolade in itself to have weather the years (Est. 1919), as one of the leading independent motor dealers located in the Chelmsford area.
Prestons is a family run business and prides itself on giving good service and value for money. Conveniently situated just outside Chelmsford off the A414, in the picturesque village of Writtle, Prestons has much to offer. Should a customer require servicing or repairs Prestons have a 'state of the art' aftersales facility, employing fully qualified technicians. We also have a recently installed new computerised MOT testing facility located on site.
Prestons has seen many changes over the last 100 years and represented many franchises. We have been A Skoda dealer for over 20 years, both as a main dealer and latterly as a very reputable Aftersales Sales Dealer, which we remain to be, although we have recently acquired the Ssangyong franchise as a main dealer, which is a new exciting venture for us.

Rebecca Blake1 StarRude and unfriendly staff and discriminatory owner. I told mr preston that ive been to his garage before and they did not fix the issue which should be within warranty. Have just paid over 7 grand for this car plus a lot of interest and the clutch and brakes are going, the windscreen wash is coming out in the druvers footwell, there is a strong smell of petrol around the car and the revometer goes really high (3.5) when trying to accelerate even a tiny bit. I told him i was autistic hoping he would realise i might not communicate like everyone else and immediately his attitude and tone changed, wanting to know why i hadn't brought it back if i was unhappy with repair, i explained i am a nurse i work on a busy ward and i am disabled so i just havent had time or energy. He advised me he didnt want me to come into his business because i wasnt happy that they didnt fix the issue (the over-revving) the first time i visited. I was like what do you mean, you need to fix it if im not happy you fixed it the first time, he was like, no i dont want you coming into my business with that bad attitude. So this man takes part in extended warranties that hes then not happy to honour. He kept insisting he hasnt ripped me off as he hasnt taken any money from me, but the price of the car included the extended warranty and if he wont fix it then he is definitely ripping me off because i will have to pay for the repair if ssangyong wont despite me just buying the car 5 months ago. This will be the third time in 2 years i have had to pay out for a car repair amd unfortunately all my savings have gone having been ripped off twice already by underhand car salesmen. Avoid this business they are happy to take your money and then not maintain the car to the standard of the warranty they sell.Monday 24th January 2022
