After speaking to some friends who have used south east security I was warned that the sales team are next to useless however the engineers are fantastic so I thought I would risk it. How wrong could I have been. I booked in for a surveyor to come and assess my property in the hopes of being given a bespoke system. The chap that turned up looked like he was dressed to meet his friends at the pub not to represent a professional company. He barely looked around my house and was here for no more than about 5 minutes. I received the written quotation within a few days and the price was the cheapest one we had had (this should have been a warning to me) On the day of installation two chaps turned up and whilst looking around my property ran into problems almost straight away. There wasn't any power where they needed it to be and there was no easy access for them to get the cables in for the CCTV. After having to go back to there supplier/office to pick up more parts I was then informed that there would be an additional cost for the extra work that was required. This seemed absolutely unacceptable as if the surveyor had done his job properly he would have known this. They eventually got the CCTV and alarm system up and running but neither of them really seemed very confident with either systems (one chap was wearing a t shirt for another company so not sure if they had sub contracted my job to somebody else who maybe isn't familiar with this particular set up although they did turn up in a south east security van) When they showed me the system it didn't really feel very bespoke at all (blind spots on certain cameras, other cameras viewing far too much of my neighbours property, I was told by the engineer that the surveyor should have specified a camera with a different type of lens. My alarm system just felt very generic and left certain areas not covered) It just seemed like they just throw the same equipment into every customers house without actually making it unique to the property. I asked for some tweaks to be made to the system (I wanted to be notified if anybody moved around outside in view of the cameras) but neither engineer knew how to do this. It took south east security weeks to get another engineer out who did know (this engineer must have been one of the ones my friend told me about as he was fantastic and went out of his way to make sure I was completely happy with everything) All in all I feel very let down by the company and really wish I had spent a little bit more money and gone elsewhere.
