I was there when my friend, who is currently housebound, had his eye test with Specsavers service at home. I have to say how good it was - the people who came out to the house were very sensitive and professional, very caring and respectful in their manner. I was very impressed and would recommend it to anyone. The selection of frames they brought out with them was perfect and he is now very pleased with two new pairs of glasses which were also brought to the house and fitted there. What a brilliant service! Many many thanks to Specsavers for doing this at no extra cost and with no fuss. 5 stars, definitely.

My Partner, Kay had both her eye test / 2 pairs of new glasses and her hearing aids renewed this week. She is over the moon with the service she received from all the people involved. We have no hesitation in recommending both services to everyone.

I have unfortunately been unable to leave the house for a number of years, and as such haven't visited an optician in some time. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home. I called Specsavers who were originally quite helpful in arranging an appointment, however that was the last good experience. Some 4 weeks later the day of the appointment comes and I receive a phone call to tell me they can't get to me at all as the person recording my details recorded them wrong and placed me in the wrong county entirely. I was then told to wait another two weeks and that I would receive a phone call early in the morning to tell me what my appointment time is that morning. I waited until 11am with no phone call, so I called to ask what my slot was. The agent was rude and abrasive from the start. "It's still the morning, that's why we haven't called you" she said. The agent huffed when I didn't accept this excuse and asked for my position in the queue. The agent resisted and said that it doesn't mean anything because it doesn't account for traffic. Again, not wanting to sit around all day watching the front door I asked for my position in the queue. I was told I was number four, and that each appointment slot was for an hour starting at 10am. A quick bit of primary school level maths would determine that four 1-hour slots starting at 10am would never be a morning appointment, and now I need to take time away from my work to accommodate a possible 1pm-or-later "morning" appointment. I asked for their complaints procedure and the agent decided to become even more adversarial and rude, all the while trying to dissuade me from lodging a complaint. Eventually she said I'd receive a call back from a manager within 7 days. I have no faith that I will receive this call back.

I booked a home visit appointment for my mother in law 3 weeks in advance for my mother in law. I asked for an email and/ or letter confirmation of the appointment and was advised one would be sent out. Nothing was received. On the day of the appointment, there was no contact throughout the day. I had to ring them in the afternoon to check the time the optician would arrive and was informed she would be 1 hour. I then received a voicemail n the late afternoon stating that the optician would not be attending, as she had ran behind on her appointments in the day. Absolutely pathetic excuse, I wasted a whole day waiting for the optician to arrive and had booked a day off from work to be home for my mother in law. I was then promised a priority appointment, which was just under 2 weeks away. Will never use specsavers home visit or in store. Disgraceful.

They turned up as planned, but there was no contact between SpecSavers and myself after making an appointment for my Mum. They did however contact the care home where she lives, who in turn informed me when Specsavers staff had left. This was a bit disappointing, as I needed to be present as an advocate for my Mum, and due to the fact that she is visually impaired and a patient of an eye clinic.
