Originally built as the Canal Warden’s house, this Carnforth listed building was converted into a pub in 2001 and with its beautiful canalside location it has become a real destination venue. New owners took over in 2018 and our new limited ‘post-lockdown’ menu is now available seven days per week.

Our food offering is complemented by a good selection of wines, beers and spirits as well as Lyons Coffee, Whittard Tea and Wallings Ice Cream.

The spacious conservatory was added a few years ago as part of a £250,000 refurbishment to really make the most of the canal views.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for latest bookings of live outside entertainment by the waterside!

Whilst reservations are always recommended, walk-ins are part of our welcoming culture and we will always go the extra mile to accommodate you whenever we can. We look forward to seeing you soon! The Canal Turn Crew x

The Canal Turn in Carnforth is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. As the name says, it's on the canal turn with great views. A large beer garden with great views to watch the world go by. Great selection of food and drinks on there menu. They also offer live entertainment some nights. A place to stop off after a long walk or boating on the canal. Also a dog friendly pub.

Canal Turn, Carnforth, beautiful setting on the river with an array of wild life. Fed the swans with their 8 cygnets. Very good welcome from Laura, very attentive and professional. Told us the daily specials and only one dish not available. Didn’t matter though as the steak was fantastic. Will definitely go back and try the Sunday Roast.

Stopped off on way home from a weekend away with friends as after a long drive didn't feel like cooking. We received a really warm welcome from a lady behind the bar who grabbed someone immediately to seat us. It could do with a refurb although the large window area seemed nice, possibly an addition. The menu was basic with not much choice. I had the scampi which should never had been served by any chef as it was over done as they'd clearly left it and forgot about it either that or they needed to change the oil. I had salad with mine which I asked for however it was more there for aesthetic purpose than as sustenance. My food wasn't very hot and should have been! My partner had the Kentucky chicken which was quite moist. It came with corn on the cob which they said to have been of the vacuum packed kind rather than fresh or frozen which meant it had a plastic look and was dry. The area sells this place as a nice outdoor area on the canal to enjoy a drink outside on a nice day rather than somewhere to go for a meal. I'd definitely recommend for a drink and the friendly bar staff were refreshing.
