Why stay here ...

Tredegar House Country Park Club Campsite is ideally located within a mile of the M4 motorway and only 12 miles from Cardiff. Complementing the house superbly is the Country Park itself, boasting a 17th century orangery, gardens, woodland and adventure playground open throughout the year. The 7-acre caravan site boasts an exquisite ornamental lake and offers 79 generously sized pitches. Take the opportunity to visit Tredegar House as it has often been described as one of the architectural wonders of Wales, and recognised as one of the most significant 17th century houses in the whole of the British Isles. The house is open between Easter and September.

Within convenient distance of Tredegar House Country Park Club Campsite is the beautiful city of Cardiff, with its medieval castle, National Museum, Bay Development and vast shopping centre. Close to the caravan park, you can visit the restored Transporter Bridge, Pwll Mawr (Big Pit mining museum) and the lovely Wye Valley. The bus stop is about a 25 minute walk from site and the service is frequent and good value, allowing you to conveniently explore the local area without the need for a car. A favourite of visitors is a trip to the small village of Ystradfellte, approximately 1 hour away, where a 5 mile walk can be undertaken to the four waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons - well worth the effort to witness these stunning falls.

Lovely site close to Newport. Site wardens really helpful. Adjacent to Tredegar House which is well worth a visit and some great grounds to walk around. Lovely time I. Newport too, our visit to the cathedral was great. A bit of traffic noise from major roads next to site, but not too bad

This property is actually owned by Newport Council, but leased to the National Trust who manage the buildings and grounds. Part of the arrangement is that local people are allowed to walk throughout part of the parkland free of charge. However, the car park is chargeable, although NT members can use their membership card to get free parking. It was originally owned by the Morgan family, who amassed a huge fortune from various activities; and various parts of the building go back over 400 years. It's been redeveloped a number of times, and it's interesting to see how the styles changed. Some allowance has been made for those who are less able, and the ground floor is well worth the effort. But the stairs make upper floors inaccessible. In some of the rooms, there are items that were personal property of various family members. These are well worth investigating. There are also some specialist furniture, and numerous paintings that you should enjoy. Unfortunately, they have had a few issues with some damage to the roof, and water leaks. As a result, some areas were out of bounds on the day I went, and it looks likely to remain that way for a while. The grounds are very attractive and well worth the visit. A number of groups also use the grounds to provide facilities for the members of society that have difficulties within their lives. The grounds are very popular with dog owners that bring their furry friends. There is a nice little cafe, and some really interesting little artisan workshops. Overall, a really great spot to visit.

A typical camc site with all the usual facilities which were lovely and clean and were well situated and signed. Being so close and surrounded by 3 main roads and the main Bristol to Swansea rail line there is some noise, so if you are a light sleeper you may not enjoy it here. Luckily I can sleep through a storm so no issues for me. Tredegar house is next door and worth a visit and I have never seen so many dogs in my life. Its handy for Newport or Cardiff and the valley's. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the site was clean and tidy. Being low season the prices are very reasonable.
